Shimmer States

'Shimmer States' is the soundtrack for a trainride leaving the metropolis - for a weekend on the countryside or commuting from the urban centre workspace to suburban areas.

Each track tells its own story, from leaving the city at the train station - one of those cities that never sleep - so you can finally relax and reflect, undistracted. Staring out the window and contemplating, nostalgia setting in, feeling connected to nature again all of a sudden until we finally arrive at our destination, in juxtaposition to the point of departure.

"The EP reinforces this juxtaposition between urbanisation and natural landscapes. For something to shimmer it usually implies reflection. Whether this is cityscapes reflecting culture, or the process of reflection in ourselfs we normally undertake during long bouts of travel.

For me I wanted to put the listeners in this image of a train rolling out of a city, and the changing landscape from urban to rural, reflected in the music with natural instruments but still rooted in beats and electronic gamey sounds."
